Magazines going through the web press

Strength in numbers

Our well-equipped Print department is designed to cater for high production needs. We provide an impressive perfecting capacity in colour (both sides printed in one machine operation) in 16 page sections on three 10-unit and one 8-unit Speedmaster Sheetfed presses and two Heatset Web presses; and 24-page sections on our Heidelberg Sunday 2000 Heatset Web press.

Flexibility

Our Print Department is perfectly positioned to meet the demands of weekly and monthly magazine and journal production, and shorter-run, bespoke printed matter. We have an even balance in capacity so that work can easily be switched from Sheetfed to Web and vice versa to meet variations in print run and special requirements. Economic running of 16 and 8-page sections by Sheetfed and 24 and 16-page sections by web ensure economic pagination in eight page leaps. We allow four page sections to be run on Sheetfed presses and combined with Web sections at the binding stage. Spot or additional colours are catered for, Sheetfed or Web sections can be folded on line or sheeted.
Our 10-unit Sheet-fed presses combine maximum efficiency with flexibility; flexibility in the form of the press' 10 units, which allow for in-line sealing and perfecting on four-colour jobs, and the efficient printing of spot colours, and in the form of its CutStar unit.

The CutStar offers the flexibility of feeding the press with paper in reel form. This enables a sheetfed press to run lower paper grammages and reduces waste by cutting to the specific format required. The accuracy of register and reliable sheet transport significantly reduces waste generation, and the machine is equipped with an adjustable ink fountain for faster ink changes. This is a valuable asset for our publishing clients, who increasingly need to source environmentally responsible print, and fits well with Headley Brothers' environmental stance, since it is ISO 14001 accredited and holds both PEFC and FSC Chain of Custody certificates.

Our Digital print capability enables the printing of shorter-run and bespoke material, with no minimum order quantities and a fast turn-around. This close integration of digital alongside our offset printing capability provides the opportunity for customers to utilise the facility for personalisation, versioning of their titles, and the creation of highly targeted marketing material.
